本期论坛将由来自德克萨斯大学达拉斯分校naveen jindal打点学院的胡斌教授共享他与协作者的研讨——“courteous or crude:shaping customer behavior in on-demand service platforms”。在联接客户需要与效能供给者的按需效能平台上,效能供给者可以会回绝口碑太低的客户所提出的效能需要;而客户在该平台上得到的效能领会又会反过来影响其行为。客户行为与供给商情绪之间的博弈则变成平台效能能否招引证户的重要影响之一。按需效能平台如何在这种博弈中纵横捭阖,获取共赢,是本期谈论的要点地址。

dr. bin hu is an associate professor in the naveen jindal school of management at the university of texas at dallas. he received his phd in business administration from the university of michigan, and his bs in mathematics from peking university. before joining ut dallas in 2021, he taught at the university of north carolina at chapel hill for 7 years. dr. hu’s research interest is in supply chain management, procurement and sourcing, and innovative operations, and primarily employs analytical economic, game-theoretic, and optimization models in his research. he currently serves as a senior editor at production and operations management and an associate editor at naval research logistics.

courteous or crude: shaping customer behavior in on-demand service platforms
abstract
in an on-demand service platform, customers’ behavior directly impacts service providers’ utilities, and providers may turn down requests from customers with low ratings. platform users’ experiences in turn shape their behavior. we model how customer behavior and provider attitude evolve in such a platform in an evolutionary game theory model, and find that they may converge to an inefficient outcome. we propose priority matching as a non-pricing tool to drive the
system toward more efficient outcomes. we further analyze how customer behavior and provider attitude influence the platform’s ability to attract users, and show that priority matching has the potential to improve platform performances such as growth and revenue.
